Like most folks in Hawaii, I have passed by areas that are working farms and occasionally have wondered about visiting. Though when driving, much of that is a fleeting thought that fades when another vista is in view.
Last October or November, I saw a post of one of the most full and jaw-dropping plumeria lei I’d seen in a minute! Like a double-carnation lei, like, that must weigh a few pounds and I could only imagine the fragrance. It was from Little Plumeria Farms. After a quick online search, I read they were starting up tours in April (2024).
I booked myself a visit and it was great. Pretty quick hour that did include meeting at the designated parking lot, loading into the vans, and riding the fifteen minutes or so up the dirt road to their farm.
Once there, it was bliss! The family run farm is into its third generation with an extended ohana of longtime friends who also work with the Little family. The blooms they had on display were only those that were on the trees that day. Trippy to learn how they generally cultivate their plumeria, so many LF or Little Farm exclusives.
Below are just a few images I was able to capture (sorry I don’t have names though their website has all the information!):
