Chicago’s weather may have outshined the Queen Bey—at least temporarily. Beyoncé’s much-anticipated Cowboy Carter Tour stop at Soldier Field on Thursday was delayed due to dangerous weather conditions, including a tornado watch and severe thunderstorms looming over the city.
Originally scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., the first of Beyoncé’s three-night residency was officially pushed back until at least 9 p.m., according to Soldier Field’s announcement on social media around 5:30 p.m. Fans already gathered at the venue were advised to monitor updates closely as safety remained the top priority.
The delay came on the heels of a scorching Chicago day, with temperatures peaking at 92°F—breaking the city’s record high for May 15, previously set in 1962. Meteorologists warned that the intense heat increased the likelihood of severe evening storms, including high winds and hail.
Despite the weather, anticipation for Beyoncé’s Chicago run remains sky-high, with themed pop-ups, fan meetups, and citywide events already in full swing. The Cowboy Carter Tour has drawn massive crowds nationwide, and Windy City fans are clearly willing to wait out the storm to see the global icon.
With shows scheduled through Sunday, Chicago is bracing for more Beyoncé—and, hopefully, calmer skies.
