Inside Story

Both Fix My Frankenhouse Season 2 and Flipping 101 Season 3 Premiere on HGTV This week Both Fix My Frankenhouse Season 2 and Flipping 101 Season 3 Premiere on HGTV This week

Nearly two years after HGTV aired the first season of “Fix My Frankenhouse,” the show is finally set to return on April 2.

“Fix My Frankenhouse” had a brief but successful first season — comprised of six episodes — that aired in the spring of 2023. The show follows married couple Denese and Mike Butler as they renovate homes with “wonky layouts” in the Boston area.

In each episode Mike and Denese will uncover major issues caused by wonky layouts, misplaced staircases and maze-like hallways. Mike employs his construction know-how to create a functional flow, while Denese captures their clients’ style with custom finishes. By blending elements of the older homes’ charm with modern design, the couple will produce stunning, cohesive spaces for homeowners.

Mike is a third-generation contractor, according to the Boston Globe, and Denese is the founder of interior design studio My Perfect Vignette. They’re raising three young kids in Boston while transforming homes that have been poorly updated in the past with “odd additions and piecemeal redesigns,” according to a press release from HGTV.

The eight-episode season, following the Boston couple as they renovate homes with wonky layouts and failed fixes, will air each Wednesday at 6pm PST / 9pm EST.

Also premiering this week on HGTV is the new season of “Flipping 101,” starring longtime HGTV personality Tarek El Moussa. The real estate expert and busy dad of three will coach more amateur flippers when Flipping 101 with Tarek El Moussa returns on April 3. During the new 11 episodes, Tarek, who has nearly 1,000 flips to his credit, will teach novice renovators how to turn a profit and avoid the pitfalls most flipping newcomers face.

In the premiere episode, Tarek will meet first-time flipper Dan, who is determined to learn the business from the ground up. He’ll purchase a four bedroom, three bath property in La Mirada, California, and plan to run the renovation all on his own. Before demo even begins, Tarek will realize that the home only has three bedrooms. On top of that, Dan will underestimate the entire budget, and the workers at his property will test his authority due to his young age. To get Dan on track, Tarek will rely on his decade of flipping experience to guide this rookie to a big payday in one of the shakiest real estate markets in recent history.

The 11 -episode season will air Thursdays at 6pm PST / 9pm EST on HGTV. Fans can visit HGTV.com/Flipping101 for special show extras, behind-the-scenes photos and exclusive videos with Tarek. The new episodes of Flipping 101 with Tarek El Moussa will also be available to stream on Max® and discovery+ beginning April 4.
