Ryan Reynolds’ Star-Studded ‘Animal Friends’ Delayed Until 2026 Ryan Reynolds’ Star-Studded ‘Animal Friends’ Delayed Until 2026

Fans eager to see Ryan Reynolds’ next comedic adventure will have to hit the pause button—Animal Friends has officially been delayed until May 1, 2026. Originally slated for an October 2025 release, the road trip comedy is getting a strategic push from Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures.

Directed by Peter Atencio and penned by Kevin Burrows and Matt Mider, Animal Friends boasts a powerhouse cast including Reynolds, Jason Momoa, Aubrey Plaza, Addison Rae, Dan Levy, Lil Rel Howery, and Ellie Bamber. The film is described as a live-action/animated hybrid road trip story, promising a chaotic mix of laughs, heart, and possibly a few CGI animal antics.

Though disappointing for fans, the delay signals confidence in the film’s box office prospects. Reynolds’ Deadpool & Wolverine shattered records with a $1.3 billion global haul, and Momoa’s Minecraft Movie is nearing the billion-dollar mark. With that star power and a prime early summer 2026 release date, Animal Friends is poised to be a major hit.

Until then, audiences can expect more teases from Reynolds’ Maximum Effort production banner—and a likely marketing blitz that makes the wait a little more fun.
