Dave Coulier, renowned for his portrayal of Joey Gladstone on Full House, has been declared cancer-free following a five-month battle with stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma. The 65-year-old actor received the diagnosis in October 2024 after experiencing significant swelling in his lymph nodes due to an upper respiratory infection. His representative confirmed the positive news on March 31, 2025.
Throughout his treatment, Coulier maintained a positive outlook, often sharing updates with fans. In November, he posted a photo during chemotherapy, giving a thumbs-up and encouraging followers to “remember to laugh.” His wife, Melissa Coulier, acknowledged the challenges of chemotherapy, noting that the side effects became more difficult over time.
Coulier drew strength from his family’s experiences with cancer; his mother, sister Sharon, and niece Shannon all battled the disease, with his sister Karen currently undergoing treatment. He expressed admiration for their resilience, stating, “I watched these women in my family just be so strong, and I thought to myself, ‘Wow, I hope I have that kind of strength.'”
The actor’s Full House co-stars offered unwavering support during his health journey. Candace Cameron Bure frequently checked in, emphasizing the importance of expressing love and encouragement. Coulier informed his castmates of his diagnosis via group text, ensuring they heard the news directly from him.
In a recent personal milestone, Coulier became a grandfather. His son, Luc, and daughter-in-law, Alex, welcomed a baby boy on March 27, 2025. Coulier expressed excitement about sharing his passions with his grandson, including hockey and aviation.
As he embraces this new chapter, Coulier remains grateful for the support from family, friends, and fans, and looks forward to future endeavors with renewed health.
