Inside Story

It’s the 30th Anniversary of National Public Health Week! It’s the 30th Anniversary of National Public Health Week!

During the first full week of April each year, the American Public Health Association (APHA) brings together communities across the United States to observe National Public Health Week as a time to recognize the contributions of public health and highlight issues that are important to improving our nation.

For three decades, National Public Health Week has been a cornerstone in advancing health equity, improving community well-being and championing policies that protect and promote public health. As the APHA marks this milestone, you can join them for a dynamic forum reflecting on the remarkable progress of the last 30 years and charting the path forward.

Through engaging discussions with leading public health experts, you’ll examine the biggest lessons learned, emerging challenges like climate change and misinformation, and the innovations that will shape the future of public health. Joel Bervell, MD, TikTok’s Medical Mythbuster, will join public health leaders in a powerful conversation about the next era of public health — where science, collaboration, communication and advocacy come together to build healthier, more resilient communities.

“It Starts Here”

The theme for the 30th anniversary celebration of NPHW is “It Starts Here.” Public health starts with each of us making a difference in our homes and communities. It’s how the places we live, work and play affect our well-being. It’s the way we are all stronger—and healthier—together through the efforts of organizations like the American Public Health Association and others that advocate for healthy communities.

Join in for the 30th anniversary of National Public Health Week to celebrate successes, look ahead to upcoming challenges and create a vision for the future. Explore APHA’s resources, events and other ways to get involved during National Public Health Week, because public health is all of us—and it starts here.

Don’t miss the Kickoff Forum on Monday, the NPHW Chat on Bluesky on Wednesday and all the other APHA led activities
