Julien’s Auctions to Auction Largest Collection of Princess Diana’s Fashion Ever Julien’s Auctions to Auction Largest Collection of Princess Diana’s Fashion Ever

Julien’s Auctions is back with a sale that is once again set to make history, with the largest collection of Princess Diana’s fashion ever to appear at auction. Taking place Thursday, June 26th at 10:00 AM PT at The Peninsula Beverly Hills, this landmark event will offer over 200 extraordinary pieces, many of which have never before been available to the public.

As the Museum of Pop Culture (MOPOP) announced via press release, this unprecedented sale offers collectors and fans a rare opportunity to own a part of Diana’s enduring style legacy—garments that captured the world’s imagination and helped shape the image of one of the most beloved public figures of the 20th century.

As a prelude to the auction, Julien’s Auctions also announced an exclusive museum partnership with Seattle’s MOPOP – a cutting-edge nonprofit dedicated to innovation in pop culture. The museum will host “Princess Diana’s Style & A Royal Collection”, a limited-time exhibit opening May 1, 2025, offering the only opportunity in the U.S. to view this once-in-a-lifetime collection in person before it goes under the hammer. And a week before the collection goes live, Princess Diana items will be on exhibition in Newbridge, Ireland at The Museum of Style Icons from mid May until mid June 2025.

Julien’s Auctions continues to break new ground in the world of celebrity and royal auctions, having shattered records in 2023 when one of Diana’s gowns sold for $1.14 million and in 2024 a pair of her shoes achieved $390,000 at auction. With this expansive new collection hitting the block, experts are predicting another round of headline-making results.

“Princess Diana holds a special place in the heart of Julien’s Auctions, and we are honored to continue to preserve her legacy telling her story through the pieces that defined her elegance, grace, glamour and spirit.” said Martin Nolan, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Julien’s Auctions. “This collection is the most significant offering of her wardrobe ever presented at auction—each item a window into a moment in history and a tribute to a woman whose humility and style and personal warmth continues to inspire the world”

But that’s not all. In addition to the Diana collection, the auction will feature rare and regal pieces from British royal history, including couture garments from the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, and historic items belonging to Queen Elizabeth II, the Queen Mother, and royal treasures dating as far back as the 19th century.

“This collection celebrates Princess Diana’s enduring influence as a cultural and fashion icon,” said Michele Y. Smith, CEO of MOPOP. “Her style, grace, and humanitarian spirit continue to resonate across generations. We’re honored to be the sole U.S. museum to share this extraordinary collection with the public.” This announcement marks the beginning of a long-term collaboration between MOPOP and Julien’s Auctions, grounded in a shared commitment to cultural preservation, public education, and advancing thought leadership around the power of pop culture.

Together, MOPOP and Julien’s will focus on preserving iconic artifacts, developing educational programming, and deepening public understanding of how pop culture shapes our collective history. “We’re excited to bring this extraordinary collection to MOPOP and share Diana’s timeless style and royal history with the public in such a vibrant cultural setting.” said Gabriela Schwartz, Managing Director and Head of Luxury and Corporate Brand Partnerships at Julien’s Auctions.

Online registration for the auction is now open at www.juliensauctions.com. A portion of the sale of Princess Diana items will benefit Muscular Dystrophy UK.  Bidders from around the globe are invited to participate in real time online, with the live event culminating on Thursday, June 26th at The Peninsula Beverly Hills.
