(April 2023) I went over the ARTS at Marks Garage for the 2023 “Pineapple Man and Friends” art exhibit, featuring “Pineapple Man” creator Sam Campos.
Lots of familiar faces and new-to-me artists and their works! Here are a few from the week:
Artist Sam Campos. “Dragonfly” was a series he created with friends, based on his characters from his “Pineapple Man” series of comics.
Sam Campos’ art on display. He does graphic design, pen and ink, just about every medium to depict fantasy and realistic renderings of Hawaii and beyond.
Artist Kevin Sano. He also features his work at Idea’s Books and Music in Kaka’ako.
Artist Jenn W. She took up art classes right before the pandemic to develop her style and enjoys watercolors as well as pen and ink.
Artist Mark Gould. His depiction of the honeycreeper (top right hand corner) caught my eye. His work ranges from pop culture interests to natural Hawai’i moments, like hula dancers and wildlife.
