“Hawaii Matters” guest Molly Schmidt learned to swim with American Red Cross certified instructors at her local pool as a child. Since then, she has traveled and lived around the world, experiencing the works of the local regions’ volunteers and adjacent organizations coming together in times of need and emergencies.
The history of Hawaii Red Cross in the Hawaiian Islands can be found in the flag sewn by Queen Lili’uokalani that is on display at their Diamond Head headquarters and other memorabilia, including pins awarded to the late Dr. John Henry Felix, a local physician, humanitarian, and politician who made it part of his life’s mission to be of service to all people of Hawaii.
We’ll hear about the volunteers that serve their communities locally, course certifications available at Hawaii Red Cross, and a few classes that she encourages all to consider getting signed up for!
Thank you, Molly Schmidt, CEO of American Red Cross, Pacific Islands Region, for sitting with Pacific Media Group for this segment of “Hawaii Matters“.
