Shane Hawkins Honors His Dad’s Legacy—Reveals Taylor Hawkins’ True Favorite Foo Fighters Song

Shane Hawkins, the 17-year-old son of late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, recently set the record straight on a long-standing fan theory. During a drum clinic at the Dead Famous bar in Newquay, England, Shane shared that while many believe “Aurora” was his dad’s favorite song to play live, the truth is more complex.

“People say that ‘Aurora’ was his favorite to play, but that’s a lie,” Shane told the crowd. Instead, the younger Hawkins revealed that Taylor’s true favorite was “Low”, a thunderous track from the band’s One By One album. Despite its popularity, Shane noted the band rarely performed it live because of its intense drumming complexity—“it’s a f–kin’ hard one.”

Shane then launched into a jaw-dropping performance of “Low,” channeling his dad’s raw energy and technical prowess in front of an awestruck audience.

During his U.K. trip, Shane also performed with Supergrass—one of his dad’s favorite bands—on “Caught By the Fuzz,” a song Taylor himself once played live with the group.

As the Foo Fighters move forward after parting ways with Josh Freese, Shane gears up for a Chevy Metal tour this summer, continuing to honor his father’s powerful legacy—one thunderous beat at a time.
