Arcade Fire made a triumphant return to Saturday Night Live this weekend, delivering two high-energy performances from their newly released album, Pink Elephant. Marking their sixth appearance on the iconic stage, the Canadian indie rockers debuted the album’s title track, captivating audiences with their signature anthemic sound.
Released just a day before their SNL set, Pink Elephant is Arcade Fire’s seventh studio album and their first new release since 2022’s We. Recorded at Good News Recording Studio in New Orleans—owned by founding members and spouses Win Butler and Régine Chassagne—the album offers a sprawling, eclectic exploration of modern chaos and personal reinvention.
Later in the show, the band powered through their lead single, “Year of the Snake,” bringing a dynamic and urgent energy that highlighted the group’s enduring ability to evolve while staying true to their indie roots.
Although Arcade Fire has yet to announce a full tour for Pink Elephant, they are set to play London’s Royal Albert Hall this Wednesday, following several intimate performances across Canada and the U.S. East Coast.
Their return to SNL follows a memorable appearance at the show’s 50th anniversary concert in February, where they joined David Byrne and St. Vincent for a moving rendition of David Bowie’s “Heroes.”
