Carole King, Stevie Wonder, and Billy Joel have been awarded the Gershwin Prize. Singer/songwriter Lionel Richie will be the 2022 Gershwin Prize recipient, with a concert held in his honor (in Washington D.C. on March 9, 2022) to be aired May 17, 2022 on PBS. “The Gershwin Prize is named for the legendary songwriting team of George and Ira Gershwin to recognize a living musical artist’s lifetime achievement in promoting the song genre. The honoree is selected by the Librarian of Congress in consultation with a board of scholars, producers, performers, songwriters and other music specialists.” (USA Today)
Musician John Mayer and comedian Jeffrey Ross hosted an IG Live while picking up Bob Saget’s car at Los Angeles International Airport this week. Bob Saget died this week while on the road doing stand-up shows in Florida. The way they articulated how they remember the late actor/comedian as loving and kind is quite lovely. (Billboard.com)
