Fashion Labels are Lining Up to Get the Bratz Treatment Fashion Labels are Lining Up to Get the Bratz Treatment

Before Pinterest moodboards and Instagram baddies became a trend, Bratz dolls set the blueprint. Wearing sky-high platforms, the sharpest cat eye and endless animal print, they were the ultimate Y2K. But instead of fading away, the dolls have only gotten stronger and dare we say it, cooler, even sparking a highly anticipated live-action movie, that will feature living Bratz doll herself, Kim Kardashian.

As Hypebae reports, from transforming Doechii‘s iconic BET Awards speech into a doll to that unforgettable Euphoria bathroom scene, the girls are behind many favorite cultural moments — whether it’s activism or a crash course in sisterhood, courtesy of HBO. ”While dolls may seem like a commonplace fixture in anyone’s childhood, (Cult Gaia’s Jasmin) Larian can attest to the fact that fans of Bratz often grew up to be photographers, writers and fashion designers, demonstrating their lasting impact.”

Perhaps that’s why so many fashion labels seem to be lining up to drop a Bratz collab. Here are some of Hypebae’s favorites.

Jean Paul Gaultier x Bratz

Just released on July 2, the Jean Paul Gaultier x Bratz collectible gave Sasha the full high-fashion treatment. Inspired by ready-to-wear collections, the Sasha Bratz doll is pretty in Paris with her mini Bratz x Gaultier fashion magazine and signature Gaultier fragrance bottle. For the girls who love fashion’s details, she also features a ‘Gaultier’ safety pin handle. This time, she swaps her chunky platforms for Black patent cleated heels.

The luxury fashion house added, “A true homage to Jean Paul Gaultier’s couture heritage, she commands the spotlight in a sculptural pink velvet bustier dress, revisiting a legendary silhouette from the House’s archives and a metallic ‘Gaultier’ chain belt.”

Cult Gaia

Cult Gaia CEO Jasmin Larian has been influencing the Bratz brand since she was 12 years old — yes, you read that correctly. Her father, Isaac Larian, the Founder and CEO of MGA Entertainment, tapped his own daughter for creative direction and 21 years later, she creative directed a collab between Cult Gaia and the namesake brand.

The first phase of the Cult Gaia and Bratz collab featured a ready-to-wear Y2K collection with animal printed hats, butterfly tops, platform boots, sandals and more. At the time, Cult Gaia’s CEO Larian posted on Instagram, “The Bratz x Cult Gaia dolls are a landmark celebration of where both brands came from, our intrinsic and often unspoken connection, our loyal communities and all the exciting things that are yet to come. The Bratz dolls and brand are so special to me, and finding the sweet spot somewhere between the natural aesthetic of Cult Gaia and the glitzy glam of Bratz feels like a full circle moment.” Later, the dolls were released wearing key looks from the collection.

Dr. Martens

This one divides Bratz fans – you either loved it or hated it. This nostalgic collab featured four standout items: the Bratz Bex Boot, Buzz Bratz 5-Eye shoe, Mattison Bratz Strap Sandal and the Micro Heart Bratz Bag. Many thought the range of offerings was perfect as some girlies love their Dr. Martens strappy sandals while others prefer a boot for everyday wear. According to the DM site, the shoes were “built for wearers with a passion for fashion…. a bratitude-packed collection of footwear and accessories that celebrate breaking free from convention.”

According to some Hypebae readers, however, the platforms needed more bratitude, aka a chunkier sole. But everyone agreed: the Micro Heart Bag ate.

Gentle Monster

You can’t mention the best of Bratz’s collabs without Gentle Monster, either. When the brand teased its upcoming partnership at the top of 2025, people’s jaws dropped to the floor. If you got a chance to witness the Los Angeles pop-up’s life-size Bratz doll, you knew you’d be talking about this release for a long time to come. So, what happens when both brands come together? As part of a “Pocket Collection,” the cyber-coded glasses release with innovative design, striking metallic detailing and a collectible doll that pulled the most fire futuristic fit.

Mowalola x Bratz

Nigerian-British label Mowalola partnered with Bratz in 2022 and delivered. The Lagos-born designer shared, “Growing up as a tomboy in Lagos, Nigeria, I have always been fascinated by Bratz dolls with their extreme beauty, looks and out-of-this-world fashion. This collaboration with the brand gave me the opportunity to re-examine the ideals of beauty and femininity and how I could bring Bratz into my world and make them reflect my own ideas of beauty.”

Rocking 6-inch platforms, trendy hairstyles and micro skirts, fan favorites, Jade and Felicia, received an alternative makeover. When creative directing the collection, Mowalola referred to her favorite Bratz collections, the “Tokyo A Go-Go,” “Pretty ‘N’ Punk,” “Treasures” and “Live in Concert.”
