Jane’s Addiction Implodes: Dave Navarro Accuses Perry Farrell of Onstage Assault in New Lawsuit

What was supposed to be a triumphant reunion for Jane’s Addiction has turned into a legal and emotional battleground. Guitarist Dave Navarro, joined by bandmates Eric Avery and Stephen Perkins, has filed a bombshell lawsuit accusing frontman Perry Farrell of violently assaulting him during a Boston show in September 2024.

According to newly filed court documents, Navarro claims Farrell attacked him mid-performance and continued the altercation backstage, ultimately leading to the abrupt cancellation of the band’s 33-date North American reunion tour. The lawsuit calls the incident “brutal and unprovoked,” and notes that video of the attack circulated widely online, shocking longtime fans of the pioneering alt-rock group.

The filing includes a now-deleted Instagram apology from Farrell in which he admitted to “inexcusable behavior.” Still, a representative for Farrell pushed back, accusing the rest of the band of bullying and timing the lawsuit to preempt pending legal action from Farrell’s side.

Navarro’s legal team maintains that the reunion was sabotaged by Farrell’s volatility, ending a rare chance at revitalizing the original lineup. As tensions escalate, the fate of Jane’s Addiction hangs in the balance—shattered dreams, bruised egos, and a courtroom showdown in place of a revival tour.
