Inside Story

From Cottagecore to Chaos: Rhian Teasdale Embraces Her Power Era with Moisturizer

Rhian Teasdale is done playing it sweet. With Wet Leg’s sophomore album Moisturizer dropping this Friday, the 32-year-old frontwoman is stepping into a new era—one marked by muscle tanks, pink hair, and zero apologies.

Sipping water, coffee, and lemonade in a sweltering London café the day after Wet Leg’s triumphant Glastonbury set, Teasdale reflects on the evolution from viral cottagecore darlings to boundary-pushing alt-rock icons. “Cottagecore is over,” she laughs. “We’ve moved on.”

Gone are the prairie dresses and soft braids. In their place: hot pants, bleached brows, and unapologetic body hair. Teasdale’s transformation has triggered predictable online backlash, mostly from men who once found the band’s playful femininity palatable. “Seeing that sh*t just makes me grow my armpit hair even more,” she shrugs.

While bandmate Hester Chambers has stepped back from the spotlight due to anxiety, Teasdale has emerged as Wet Leg’s de facto face—something she’s learning to embrace. “We had to go through it together to get to where we are now,” she says.

Now in her first queer relationship and newly inspired by the pop world she glimpsed while touring with Harry Styles, Teasdale is bolder, freer, and more grounded than ever. The music—and the message—reflect that. Wet Leg isn’t just back. They’re evolved.
