Deftones Tease Imminent New Music With Cryptic Visual at London Show

Deftones fans may not have to wait much longer for new music. During their headlining set at London’s Crystal Palace Park on June 29, the band displayed a cryptic graphic that has set the rumor mill spinning. The screen showcased the phrase “private music” alongside the Roman numerals “X.VII.MMXXV,” sparking speculation that new material could arrive as early as July 10.

The teaser also featured an abstract symbol—two curved lines within a circle—the same icon currently gracing the band’s website. Many fans believe this subtle but deliberate hint confirms the band’s long-rumored return with fresh music.

Deftones haven’t released an album since 2020’s Ohms, but in recent interviews, frontman Chino Moreno revealed their next record is nearly complete. While fans anticipated a new single during their February North American tour with The Mars Volta, nothing materialized.

The band’s European tour wraps July 6, leaving a convenient window to release and rehearse new material before their North American dates kick off August 22.

Despite having to cancel their Glastonbury slot due to Moreno’s undisclosed health issue, the singer appeared back in form at Crystal Palace. Their next show is set for Roskilde Festival in Denmark on July 2.
