After a brief hiatus due to health concerns, ZZ Top drummer Frank Beard is officially back behind the kit. The iconic band announced that Beard will rejoin the Elevation Tour starting Sunday, June 1, in Vancouver, marking his first performance since March.
Previously sidelined for undisclosed reasons, it has now been confirmed that Beard was recovering from foot and ankle issues. According to a new statement from the band, the health concerns “have been resolved,” and Beard is expected to perform throughout the remainder of the tour, which runs through October 8 across the U.S. and Canada.
During Beard’s absence, longtime crew member John Douglas stepped in, handling percussion duties during the band’s tour stops in Australia and New Zealand.
Guitarist Billy F Gibbons expressed excitement over Beard’s return: “We missed him and are looking forward to turning it up and rocking out with him as has been the case for the last few hundred or so decades.”
Beard, the group’s famously beardless member, kept his words simple but heartfelt: “It’s good to be back. See you out there.”
With their full trio reunited, ZZ Top is ready to hit the stage full throttle — beards, blues, and all.
