Gabby Gouveia and her husband Ka’eo Gouveia know firsthand of love and grieving.
Conversations about death and dying can stop us in our tracks when they are about the ones you love, when it’s unexpected, when it’s after a long illness, when it is your own child.
In our brief talk story, we chat about “Let Grace In”, a foundation for families and individuals in Hawaii who come together after the death of their child or children. Following a memorial or funeral service, there wasn’t a practical handbook, so to speak, for Gabby and Ka’eo and their daughters (including friends and extended family) to have their late son Grayson’s presence continue in their lives.
While they did connect with other families who experienced similar losses as they did, the Gouveia’s understood there were people who didn’t know there were ways to heal “on their own timetable” or how their other children might benefit from these same meet ups and events.
