“Beyond Monet Honolulu: An Immersive Experience” has been EXTENDED until AUGUST 14, 2022!
Little known fact: I love going to museums, especially art museums. Bonus: the Impressionist period is my favorite…so I tried to leave any expectations in the parking lot 😉
If you park in the Hawaii Convention Center’s lot or walk in to the complex from elsewhere, find and follow the official signage (below) toward the entryway into the exhibition:
(below: After checking in, you’ll enter a dark curtained hallway that helps to set to experience up! The first room is one that helps to give context, background, and respect to the works of Claude Monet, the artist. These days we can digitally grab a different canvas, if we are fortunate to have a smart device! Not long ago, artists were one of the original RRR’s – recycling, reusing, and repurposing their canvases, often times explaining why the paint would be so thick on some; other times, an artist’s technique would result in such effects. Only an artist knows the Why 😉 )
(below: This was my first time at an “immersive experience” and I didn’t want to block anyone’s view of the walls or floors…then I walked in and around! There is a continuous wash of gentle music and images that takes a moment to take in and recognize some of Claude Monet’s greatest works and some that were like “demo” versions, you know? Working his way TO the ones you might recognize from art class, hanging in the background in a film, going to a museum and seeing it as part of an exhibit…I’m going back again! Let yourself be in the moments…)
(below: In the room you’ll find two bridges, like the ones painted in Monet’s waterlilies’ series and other works. I dared to step onto it while I took some selfie video and it was pretty fun! I hope you take a moment and stand on these bridges, look “over” the railing as the waters dance beneath and under…)
(below: I enjoyed my visit and I hope you make time to be at Beyond Monet Honolulu: An Immersive Experience…)
@kathywithak808 I went to #beyondmonethonolulu and want to return soon
